Hi, I am touring from Manchester in a whitish on red splitty panel van, in Clon currently,  heading to Galway via Kerry. I could do with a vw knowledgeable garage fairly soon to check my gearbox oil level and top up if anyone has a recommended one, I would appreciate it.  Hi to all anyway.

Why do you think it needs a top up? Is it whining?

A top up is a simple job that any garage could do for you.

I have a 1973 Westfalia called Daphne that has been in the family for almost 13 years. We love her to bits but could really do with a good mechanic in Cork - any suggestions?

Where in Cork are you based westynut?  I'm in Cork, and prefer to bring mine to John of KrazyKombis.com in Kilmaganny as he knows my engine inside out literally.  Worth travelling a bit for!!

A few here use Sean Hanley Motors aka The Lough Service Station, and find them pretty handy too.

Share some pics with us of Daphne, would love to see her.

Hello T2 People!

I've just recently bought a 1972 T2 Kombi which was imported from South Africa. She needs a fair amount of work done, but not a lot of bodywork thankfully. I'm based in North Donegal right now, so anyone with bits and bobs on sale for these I'd love to come and look at what you have. Also looking for a nice mechanic up here that is into T2s, so all suggestions appreciated.

Hiya, welcome along. Congrats on the new bus, post up a pic, we'd love to see her. There are a good few on here from around donegal, and Emy is Derry based, he could be a handy mechanic for you. Certainly got me out of a hole when I was stuck in innishowen last Easter.

You're right. Built in SA, likely a CKD from what I've found out.

At the moment, I'm looking to hire a mechanic to do some sorting out her. She's a 1972 Low Light Kombi, and I want to get her driving comfortable. Runs pretty well but currently not idling, lights are weak and not all working, and a few other bits that I'd like to get sorted professionally before I start doing the lighter stuff myself.

Do you take work on these busses yourself or can you recommend an enthusiast mechanic up this way?
